Help

On the line

  • Join an incident with a code

Type the six-character join code command reads out. Joining is free.

  • Start, rest, stop and demob

Start sends positions on the cadence command sets. Rest pauses, Stop ends, Demob leaves the incident.

  • Raise an emergency (SOS)

Hold the emergency button for two seconds. With no signal it queues and sends when any link returns. Use your radio too.

  • Positions waiting to send

With no signal, positions wait on the phone and send oldest first when any link returns. Nothing is lost or duplicated.

  • Why a locked phone pauses GPS

Browsers pause GPS when the phone locks or SpikeCamp is in the background. This is how phones work, not a fault.

  • Bind a Meshtastic radio

Pair the radio in the Meshtastic app with position sharing on, then enter its node id on the Track screen and tap Bind.

  • Save a map for offline use

Download the incident pack in Settings, Offline maps. The pack is free and stays under 25 MB.

  • Family links

On Pro, family see a town, county or region and your check-ins, delayed 30 minutes, never a coordinate.

Running an incident

  • Open an incident as command

Opening an incident needs Crew billing or an agency license. Command seats are free.

  • Roll call (PAR)

Command taps Start roll call; phones answer I'm OK or Need help with a position, and the board lists who is missing.

  • Dropped-off and no-movement alerts

Command sees anyone who stops reporting past the threshold as dropped off, and anyone still for ten minutes as no movement.

  • Crew billing

Crew is $1 per rostered field person per day on an open incident. Command is free; the first 30 person-days each month are free.
