Bind a Meshtastic radio
A Meshtastic radio carries your position over LoRa, radio to radio, to a gateway with an uplink. The gateway forwards it to the incident, so command can see you with no cell signal.
- Pair the radio in the Meshtastic app and turn on position sharing.
- Find the node id. It looks like
!a1b2c3d4: an exclamation mark, then eight characters from 0-9 and a-f. - On the Track screen, enter the node id under Mesh radio and tap Bind. You see "Radio !a1b2c3d4 is bound to you on this incident."
The binding is per incident. To unbind, clear the box and tap Bind; you see "Radio unbound."
Mesh positions show on the board labeled as mesh. The radio's battery shows too, and an SOS from the radio raises the same emergency as the app button. There must be a gateway in range for positions to reach command. Meshtastic position relay is listed with Pro.
"That radio is bound to someone else" or "already bound" means another person on an open incident has that node id. Check the id on the radio.
