SpikeCamp has been selected as a finalist in the FireWERX Dismounted Resource Tracking Challenge, hosted with the Orange County Fire Authority. In December we take SpikeCamp into the field for a live evaluation, and starting today, Early Access subscriptions are open to everyone.

If you'd rather watch than read, the demo shows crew tracking end to end.

What happens next

The finalist round is a live field evaluation, Challenge Day, now held over two days: December 15 and 16, 2026, in Orange County, California, weather permitting. Each finalist is assigned one of the two days.

The course is built around the problem we set out to solve:

  • With cell coverage, without it, and in canyon and canopy terrain. The places where tracking usually goes dark.
  • At least four resources tracked live on a display we bring ourselves.
  • A tabletop review of anything the field course doesn't show.

That is exactly the test we wanted. SpikeCamp assumes the signal will fail, and Challenge Day is where that assumption gets checked by the people who'll rely on it.

Early Access subscriptions are open

SpikeCamp is in Early Access. New tools ship as we build, and crew feedback shapes what comes next. You can subscribe today at Early Access prices before the 2027 fire season.

  • Free, always. The live fire map, a page for each fire, evacuation zones and alerts for one location. Safety info is never behind a paywall.
  • Pro: $5 a month or $48 a year. Alerts for all your locations, wind and weather layers, pins with photos, watcher link for family, live lightweight tactical field maps with GPS, and Mesh position relay.
  • Crew: $50 a month. Covers up to 3 rostered field people a day, then $1 per additional person per day. Crew subscription includes crew tracking, accountability on one board, and your crew on the integrated TAK map.

See Early Access pricing, or read how crew tracking works first.

Thank you

To FireWERX and the Orange County Fire Authority, thank you for building a challenge around a problem crews actually have. To everyone who has tried SpikeCamp, sent a bug report or told us what's missing: this is your work too.
